Document Summary

Lotic systems also provide distinct habitat that can be important for fisheries production. Ephemeroptera- emerge to surface and fish feed on them. Plecoptera- not a lot in louisiana b/c not a lot of stones in our streams. When streams are in good shape, we get a lot of these invertebrates (e-p-t) Although some fisheries prefer riffle habitats, most fish are found in pools and are feeding on invertebrate drift. If we move on from flowing water habitats to there"s an intermediate habitat between lentic and lotic, called reservoirs. Reservoirs have both lentic and lotic characteristics- often looks like a lake, but also have water flow like a river. The most important thing to humans that the reservoirs often provide high d. o. levels in the profundal zones in lakes. So now we move from reservoirs to marine systems, which provides us with opportunities as well as some constraints. We can also distinguish several marine habitat based on their characteristics.
