Socialization is the process by which individuals internalize the values, beliefs, and norms of a given society and learn to function as a member of that society. Learn how to function as a member of society: the way we learn how to behave from your parents, nationalism- patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts. Limits of socialization: the concept of socialization if useful for understanding how people become functioning members of society, yet it cannot explain everything about a person"s development and personality. It is a mirror reflection people"s responses: this is ourselves at work. We are finding our self : can never actually see the self and we learn self through interaction between people, george herbert mead developed a theory about how the social self develops over the course of childhood. Self as a distinct object to be perceived by others : meaning to understand in a given situation, we have to imagine ourselves as how others people see us.
