Social structure: relatively stable pattern of society, such as the ways in which people and groups and related to each other and the characteristics of groups influencing our behavior. Structure affects us; we affect the society with status and role. *status/roles (also norms): keys for micro-macro link between individuals and society. Everyone has a status, roles are part of status. *social status: ascribed vs. achieved, status set/master status. Achieved: gpa, married or not, graduated from school. Everyone has a set of statuses, but out of those sets we usually have 1 or 2 that. Master status varies from one location to another. *social role: role set, role prescription/ role performance stand out which is called master status . Role perception- expected behavior, what you"re suppose to do. Most roles are clearly stated, but some are vague/ ex: divorced couples don"t really have a certain behavior to go by, the roles aren"t clearly defined.
