The study of gender involves looking very closely at the relationship between nature and nurture and not assuming that one overshadows the other or that there is a clear line separating the two. Sets of behavioral norms assumed to accompany one"s status as a male or female. Related more to social status than biology. Some stick around for a long period of time (ie. boys asking girls to dance) An ideal notion of the ideal man that is so dominant, people aren"t even really aware of it. Hegemonic is an idea that one is asserting their dominance. Ideal of masculinity so dominant that it is regarded as the norm.
