The systematic study of social interaction at a variety of levels. Social interaction: the process by which we act toward and react to people around us. Social behavior id regular and patterned, and takes place between individuals, in (1) small groups, large organizations and entire societies. No exact two people are exactly the same personality and intellectual wise. Common sense perceptions vary across groups and cultures. Sociology examines claims and beliefs critically, considers many points or views, and enables us to move beyond established ways of thinking. Our individual behavior is influenced by social factors- where and how others and we fit into the bug pictures. social influences. Emphasizes the connection between personal troubles (biography) and structural issues (public and historical). (mills) Sociological imagination: the ability to see the intersection between individual lives and larger. Example: if only some people are unemployed it is a personal trouble. If unemployment is widespread it is a public issue.
