Racial-ethnic groups people who share a common identity and whose members think of themselves as distinct from others by virtue of ancestry, culture, and sometimes physical characteristics. United states is structured around 5 racial-ethnic groups: non-hispanic whites, african american, hispanic, asian, native hawaiian, or pacific islander, native american or alaska native.
