Document Summary

Where does the crime wave begin: salem village. Who makes up the population of salem village: puritans/ protestants, they have come to create their perfect colony, they were highly critical of the anglican church. The puritans left england so they could stop getting in trouble for trying to change the anglican. They wanted to get a charter from the king of england stating that they could go to american and start a new religion. The experiment they wanted to make was to create a community based on the bible. To have no separation between church and state: it would be one. Most of their crimes had the punishment of death: example: the crime of witchcraft, making a covenant with the devil. They have yet to declare their independence so they are still under british monarchy. England was well-known at the time for it"s procedurally law.
