Investigation conducted by the sherriff of st. martin parish (resweber) is conducting the investigation. Crime scene was pretty much trampled over by curious people. The only thing that was recovered was some bullets (more than one). If some bullets, may mean more than one shooter, or that the shooter couldn"t reload in time. Report from coroner said could have been from more than one person. In july 1945, sherriff resweber is having a meeting with chief. Tells him that if anyone suspicious comes his way to let him know. August 3, 1945, goldsmith and a detective from port arthur police station are on a stake out for a drug case. They follow a guy they believe is the guy they"re looking for. They lose sight of him and see willie francis who is outside for a stroll (he"s visiting his sister. He gets picked up and quickly convinces him they have the wrong person.
