Document Summary

Sharpness of projected image is determined by: size of the projection source lamp filament size (the smaller the filament, the sharper the image) Distance between the slide and the screen surface. Lamp housing (equipped with blowers for cooling, but can be noisy) White painted muslin or masonite makes a low cost alternative. Actor shadows and stage lighting can distort or wash out image. Eliminates problem of actor shadows on surface. Due to absorption and reflection on the screen, a brighter source is needed. Hot spot (seeing projector source through screen) must be considered. Commercial screens transmit a crisp and clear image while diffusing the hot spot. Starched muslin, shower curtains, and plastic drops are low-cost solution, but with poor image quality. Prevent image wash-out by keeping ambient light off of the screen. Keep the screen high enough to keep the actors from blocking the spectators" view.
