Nothing is really known about whether they had a king or not. Both had city walls, fortified citadel and a large granary. Served as political centers and taxes were paid in grains and the grains were redistributed. Both had marketplaces, temples, public buildings, residential districts. Harappa engaged in both domestic and foreign trade. Pottery, tools and decorative items were made in harappa and sold all throughout the. Harappans built large magnificent tombs for the rulers. Many people lived in one room houses. Others lived in two or three story homes.
