Genocide: the attempt to destroy a whole group of people based on their race or ethnicity. The one drop rule: anyone with a drop of black blood is considered black. Minority groups: people who are singled out for unequal treatment and who regard themselves as objects of collective discrimination. Becomes a minority group when political boundaries expand. It incorporates people with different cultures, languages, traditions, etc . Group becomes a minority because of migration. Dominant groups: the group with the most power, greatest privileges, and highest social status. Ethnic work: activities designed to discover, enhance, maintain or transmit ethnic or racial identity. Discrimination: the act of unfair treatment directed against an individual or group. Racism: prejudice and discrimination on the basis of race.
