Due to human"s innate desires to connect with animals, they easily enhance the therapy setting and helps individuals build better relationships with nature and other humans. Getting reacquainted with animals, especially in their nature habitat, makes people more aware of their choices and how they affect every other living thing on the planet, important for revitalizing the planet. Aai is need of more research as it is a fairly young field. Most results are anecdotal rather than supported by empirical evidence. From the iahaio white paper: animal assisted therapy: aat is a goal- oriented, planned, and structured therapeutic intervention directed and/ or delivered by health, education, and human service professionals.
