ACCT20200 Chapter Notes - Chapter 2: Heritability, Heredity
Document Summary
Currently support a moderate role of heritability in development. Because of genetic makeup, individuals differ in responsiveness to qualities of environment. People have unique, genetically influenced reactions to particular. Because each of us has a unique genetic makeup, we respond differently to the same environment. Sometimes, different gene-environment combinations can make two people look the same: gene-environment correlation: Our genes influence the environments to which we are exposed. Parents (cid:272)hoose (cid:272)hild"s a(cid:272)tions (cid:271)ased on their o(cid:449)n characteristics. If parents are active, then they will do active things with child. Child has no control over what they do because they are too young: parents provide environments for their children based on. Parent"s responsi(cid:448)eness is based on how child acts. If child is happy, then parents will be more responsive, but if the child is more colicky, then parents may not interact as much. Children e(cid:448)oke responses that are influen(cid:272)ed (cid:271)(cid:455) the (cid:272)hild"s heredit(cid:455), and these responses strengthen the (cid:272)hild"s original st(cid:455)le.
