Child may attend automatically to enjoyable things, but have great difficulty focusing on less enjoyable tasks. Attentional capacity: the amount of information we can remember and attend to for a short time . Children with adhd do not have a deficit in this. Selective attention: the ability to concentrate on relevant stimuli and ignore task-irrelevant stimuli in the environment.
