He goes through the different levels of heaven with beatrice, his childhood love, and meets many saints along the way. Dante says that everything in heaven is so beautiful that it is unable to be comprehended by a normal human being. As dante moves through heaven, he begins to feel more and more holy and closer to god. He transforms into something that is almost god-like. As dante moves through the different levels of heaven, he has beatrice, who he has loved from a very young age, to guide him. Watching and listening to her makes him feel god-like - that is the effect that her love has on him. It is a pure, innocent, youthful love that is free of any sexual desires or ulterior motives.
