Communication between people who are culturally different. Patterns of perception, values, behaviors shared by a group of people. E. g. , national, ethnic, racial, gender, age, etc etc. Horse meat-food is an important part of culture. 3 types of border dwellers: border dwellers through travel. Voluntary, short-term (tourists, missionaries, study abroad students) Tries to map experiences of people going into another culture. Positive start off, then go down once get there due to culture shock. Then accept and adapt and more positive again. Happens when you come back to your culture. Go through u twice, at foreign country and then back to home country. Change when you live in another culture and location: border dwellers through socialization. Individualism vs. collectivism: preferred personality, view of human nature, humans-nature relationships, power distance, long term vs. short term orientation. Not every group member holds this value. Do not leap from cultural level to individual level.
