With the exception of a few above-ground buildings, the majority of ancient greece lies beneath the surface and must be dug up. Soil of greece is not good for preserving things. Terra-cotta grave pots responsible for much of the chronological sequence. Greek alphabet introduced in the 8th century bce. Papyrus as the most common writing medium in all of the ancient. Wealth of evidence from the mycenaean age (c. 1600-1200 bce) Very sparse records (none written) from the dark age down to the 8th century bce.
