Biopsychosocial approach: understanding of the client in a holistic sense, pathophysiology, psychological and emotional adaptation to stressors. Biological, social, psychological - all interact to form biopsychocial model. We can then look at all components of a patient: medical conditions, mental illness, social history. The continuum of mental health and illness: mental health a state of well-being in which individuals function within society and are generally satisfied with their lives (ana,2000) Module 1 mh: mental illness a disruption or disturbance(s) in an individual"s thinking, emotions, behaviors, and physiology; includes more than just emotional state! Module 1 mh: each person has control over own self only and cannot control or make another do anything, learning is enhanced when the individual is actively engaged in the process (angelo, 2008) Axis ii: borderline personality disorder & mental retardation. Axis v: present functional level [0-100 scale] specific disorder; everyone is using same criteria.
