Includes morphological markers (=morphemes) and sentence structure. Extralinguistic info: elements of communication that aren"t part of the content of language but are crucial to interpreting its meaning (ex: tone & expression) Plays an essential role in allowing us to interpret it. Misunderstandings can arise if people are not attentive to this info.
