Servant - man who found oedipus on the mountainside. Oedipus"s land is poor, there"s a plague, the priest of zeus asks oedipus to help. He sent his wife"s brother, creon, to apollo"s shrine to learn how to protect the city. The gods told creon that they must kill whoever killed the last king, laios. One witness of the murder says the man who killed laios killed him with the force of many men, yet he was alone. Oedipus urges any theban to step forward and share any info about the killer. Chorus suggests bringing tiresias the seer to thebes, oedipus says he"s already on his way. Laios is said to have been killed by wayfarers. Tiresias: for you will bear your own burden to the end wants to go home. He tells him that oedipus killed laios. Oedipus thinks that creon put tiresias up to this, and creon is out to take the throne.
