MAT 117 Chapter 2: STATS Ch. 2
Document Summary
Frequency distribution: lists each category of data & the # of occurrences for each category of data (we count the # of times that category of data repeats itself). Relative frequency: denoted by (rf) is the proportion (or %) of observations w/in a category and is found using the formula: Relative frequency = frequency in each category sum of all frequencies. We have to make sure that all relative frequencies we get must be less than & they must add up to 1: = 1 1 & 0 1. Relative frequency can be o, which means there is no set in the counting. Relative frequency distribution lists each category of data together w/ the relative frequency. The % frequency for each category in a frequency distribution = the % of observations in each category, it equals the relative frequency of the category multiplied by 100.
