Digital media are devices with computer processors that allow access to textual, audio, and/or visual material. Distribution windows are various exhibition points distributors use to generate revenues for a product. Ex: a movie theater, a newspaper, or a cable network. Media producers try to increase revenue by moving their content across a number of windows, ex: taking reruns of a tv show off of tv onto netflix. Contracts between the distributor and the exhibitors determine the order of windows and time between them. It refers to the great increase in the number of mass media outlets that has taken place during the past two decades.
