Electoral authoritarianism: they hold elections etc. but they skip out on loads of things that would make them a proper democracy. Success depends more on size of winning coalition and selectorate. One way to classify dictatorships is to see how leaders precede others into office inner sanctums and support coalitions. Monarchies: rely on family/kin to come/stay in power.
