The mother denies using the illicit drug before delivery. Due to mandatory reporting, the hospital reported suspected child abuse. The nurses have filed a report with child protective services to investigate this situation. Upon investigation, the newborn has been removed from the mother"s care (catalano, 2015): i believe that the court did not violate the mother"s rights. Under legal rules, this is considered child abuse. I believe that child protective services had the right to take away the child. I think that the mothers should get help for drug addiction and be able to receive the child back into their care. When child abuse is suspected, it is mandatory to report it immediately.
