Incidence: the number of new cases in a population within a set period of time. Prevalence: how many people are affected within the population. Person that has recovered but gets the disease again is counted twice: reservoirs of infection can be either in humans, animals or nonliving settings such as water. Organisms can enter via : hair follicle, orifices (body openings), broken skin, bite, or placenta.
