Honestly before reading this i did not even know what a satire was. So i looked up the definition of satire. The story opens up describing gulliver as just a regular guy. He studied medicine at a university in holland then he went to work as an apprentice under a master surgeon until serious business problems drove him out of london and into the naval service. This shows that he is a self-made man who works hard for himself unlike the rich. His normalness is emphasized a lot throughout the book which makes him that much more heroic and appealing to audiences. (i mean for goodness sake swift even talked about his poop?!). Then he becomes shipwrecked on the island of lilliput. At first i was confused as to why gulliver would obey the lilliput"s instead of just crushing them.
