36. 1 relativity: special relativity, einstein"s first theory: special relativity. Inertial reference frames, frames that move relative to each other with constant velocity. Motion at constant velocity: special case of motion, where acceleration is zero. Special in the sense it is restricted special case of general relativity: second theory: general relativity theory. Describes black holes, curved spacetime, and evolution of universe. 36. 2 galilean relativity: reference frames, object speeds. 2 cars driving in the same direction, one car is going 55 mile per hour and the other one is 60. However, 60 is not the second car"s true speed relative to the other car, it is only going 5 miles per hour relative to the other car. Speed is 60 relative to a person standing on the side of the road. Objects do not have true speeds or velocities. Reference frame: coordinate system in which experimenters make position and time measurements on moving objects. Reference frame extends infinitely far in all directions.
