Farnsworth transmitted the first electronic tv picture in 1927. 1930 the national television system committee (ntsc), a group that represented major electronic firms, began outlining industry-wide manufacturing practices and compromising on technical standards. 1941 the federal communications commission adopted an analog standard for all tv sets. Us used analog signals until 2009, when they switched to digital signals. Digital signals translate tv images and sound into binary codes. Increased channel capacity, improved image quality, improved image sound. The number of tv channels a city or market could support was limited because the frequencies would interfere with each other.
