Most miscarriages and causes of structural birth defects occur during the embryonic stage: fetal stage. First 2 months of fetal stage see rapid bodily growth. Capable of physical movements as skeletal structures harden. Sense of hearing is functional around 20-24 weeks. During final 3 months brain cells multiply at a brisk pace.
