Scientific method incorporates reason but is not synonymous with it. Intuition a very mysterious process about which we have only the most rudimentary understanding. Scientific method experiment provides the basis for an objective evaluation of the hypothesis. Larger group in which the subjects of the experiment are taken. Data taken on this smaller group from the population. A variable should be contrasted with a constant, which, of course, does not have different values at different times. An example is the mathematical constant pi; it always has the same value. Independent variable levels are controlled by the experimenter, independent of any change in the other variables.
