Deaf people who use asl do not think and learn the same was as hearing people. Oftentimes when there is a problem with the behavior of a deaf child, a. Deaf adult is used to resolve the problem because they understand how the child thinks. Often used to evaluate and plan a child"s needs and progress. Many deaf people were misdiagnosed because the test is english based. This led to people thinking that deaf people weren"t smart but intelligence is distributed in the deaf population the same way it is in the hearing population. Junius wilson(1908-2001) was mislabeled and eventually sent to jail for a crime he did not commit. If deaf children are deprived of language in their early years, they will not be able to develop their thinking to its full potential. Anyone can be visual or spatial learners.
