11. 1 introduction: gui- (graphical user interface) a window or system of graphical windows presented by an application for interaction with the user, accepts input from keyboard and mouse. A window in a gui usually has components that present data to the user: buttons, labels, text fields, check boxes, buttons. Joptionpane class = display a dialog box quickly, with a message, requesting input, or answering yes or no questions. Swing classes can be used to create windows that have gui components: window- a component and a container, container- a component that holds other components, frame- a container that can be displayed in a window. An event- action that takes place in a program. The component responsible for the event creates an event object in the memory space. 11. 4 layout managers: layout manager- an object that has rules about the positions and sizes of components in a container and automatically repositions or resizes components of container.
