In the united states, the vast majority of people die from heart disease and cancer. The highest rate of death actually occurs in children in their first year of life. The majority of infant deaths are caused by congenital anomalies, disorders caused by premature birth and low birth weight, and sudden infant death syndrome (sids) The three leading causes of death for teenagers and young adults all involve behavioral choices as opposed to diseases or infections. Women"s life expectancy is significantly longer than men"s in most countries. One possible explanation for this is that men tend to engage in riskier behavior in general, and risky behavior leads to more accidental deaths in men than women. Women tend to get more social support, which could help them effectively buffer the effects of stress. Black people have shorter life expectancies than white people. The person is unreceptive and unresponsive to stimuli.
