Wilhelm wundt established first psychology laboratory at university of leipzig, germany in 1879 edited first psychology journal (1881) founded experimental psychology: psychology is the scientific study of conscious experience. Philosophical influences: zeitgeist- the intellectual, social, economic, and political climate three primary philosophical schools of thought, mechanism, empiricism, positivism. Empiricism the zeitgeist of the 18th century- all knowledge comes from sensory experience.
