Style came and has remained in general acceptance for a long time. Exceptions to the usual movement of styles throughout the fashion cycle. Characterized by the simplicity of design that keeps it from being easily dated. Comes quickly and disappears as quickly as arrival. Usually come and go in a single season but sometimes can come back as fashion. Trend the direction of what is in fashion. A change in one or more of these components does a new fashion evolve. 3 basic forms: bell, bustle, straight but in many variations. Now many fashion experts include 4 variations on the tubular silhouette: slim, rectangle, wedge, and a-line. Change slowly in today"s fashion cycle: silhouette and line. Details things on garments like form and shape to make the clothing stand out more. Ex: trim, buttons, length, width, waist, shoulder, sleeve, etc. Silhouettes evolve gradually from one another through changes in detail.
