Document Summary
The mitotic phase alternates with interphase in the. The phase of the cell cycle that includes mitosis and cytokinesis. Accounts for about 90% of the cycle. Is divided into: g1 phase, s phase, g2 phase. The period of the cell cycle when the cell is not dividing. Cellular metabolism activity is high, chromosomes and organelles are duplicating, and cell size may increase. The first gap, or growth phase, of the cell cycle, consisting of the portion of interphase before. The second gap, or growth phase, of the cell cycle, consisting of the portion of interphase after dna synthesis occurs. The daughter cells may then repeat the cycle: lets say cell division takes 24 hrs. A nondividing state occupied by cells that have left the cell cycle, sometimes reversibly: mitosis is conventionally broken down into 5 stages, prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase/ cytokinesis. The chromatin fibers become more tightly coiled, condensing into discrete chromosomes observable with a light microscope.
