Exceptions like rna --> dna by reverse transcriptase rrna - ribosomal subunits (must be specific) mrna as template for ribosomes. Rna pol synthesizes the coding strand (same code as non template) from the template strand in 5" to 30" direction. trna is adaptor between nucleic acid and protein. Carries amino acids and translates the triplets. rrna and trna are functional rna (can fold/make up 95%) trna goes into a site. P site passes polypeptide on top of a site amino acid. Rna really important and proteins can fold into different confomrations. Nculeic acids are linked together in long chains. Nucleotide consists of: pentose sugar, nitrogenous base, and phosphate. -> pentose sugar of rna contains one more hydroxyl group. -> thymine has methyl group attached while uracil does not (does not define deoxyribose or ribose- the pentose sugar structure does). Alpha carbon of amino acid attached to 4 grousp: carboxyl, amino, r group, and hydrogen.
