Jean piaget: constructivism- theory that emphasizes the active role of children in developing their understanding and learning. Active learning- the view that children develop knowledge and learn by being physically and mentally engaged in learning activities. Adaptation-the process of building schemes/ organized units of knowledge through interactions. Birth to 2 years: when children learn through their senses and motor activities. 2-7 years: when young children start t become capable of mental representations, conservation-they don"t have this yet and its when the quantity of an object doesn"t change even if you change its appearance. Self-talk-speech directed to oneself that helps guild their behavior. 7-11 years: children"s thought becomes logical and can organize concrete experiences, children start to develop more abstract thoughts. They have the ability to classify different objects.
