Students with more involved parents are more likely to do better in school: many say there is no greater effect of a student than their parents. Early childhood programs are no only about helping the children but also about helping the parents. Parent university-provides parents with knowledge and skills on a variety of topics. Parent involvement in their child"s education encourages parents investment in themselves and in their children. Families have changed over the years to involve step parents and siblings and single parent homes. Accommodate family schedules by arranging things at times other than the workday. Remember single parents have a limited amount of time to spend on involvement in the child"s school. Suggest ways the parents could make time with their child more meaningful. Develop support groups fro the families in your classroom. Offer opportunities for single parents to volunteer to the school. Multigenerational families: grandparents sometimes are the primary caregivers of a child.
