Poland >killed thousands of civilians: polish government held back on mobilizing didn"t want what happened in. Wwi where questioning if they started the war to happen again. Tried defending large parts of country but spread forces too thinly to really stop germans. Were able to slow germans down at times though: important aspects of german invasion: Used massed armor + support from air force to break through but lots of tear on equipment terrain + poor roads + airfields. German military leaders didn"t think this through when prepping to invade soviet union this way. Relied heavily on horses to help them transport things. Instead of machines like propaganda says they did: didn"t really care they were killing so many civilians thought german settlers would just come in + take over.
