There"s a tiny rectangle that served as window where only one person would hog it. She went to auschwitz packed into cramped cars + told to take everything owned w/ her + smelled bad. They felt hopeless + like they had been abandoned. Used to think that after war, she"d have great oral history to contribute. But most didn"t want to listen and when they did, had poise to indulge on her.
