Ovaries increase estrogen and progesterone and estradiol. Spermarche: first ejaculation of seminal fluid (13 years old) Pituitary signals hypothalamus that puberty should start. Gonads: ovaries in females testes in males. Causes gonads to grow and increase production of sex hormones. Heavy girls reach menarche earlier than malnourished one. Secular trend: increases in human growth as nutrition improved. Kids born in one country and adopted in another tend to have early puberty onset. Socially rejected, unstable home, change in family structure, poverty, divorce, etc. Classic way to ask kids about their stage in puberty. From extremities to the core of body. Skin is oilier, sweatier, and more prone to ache. Primary: directly involved in conception and pregnancy. Primary sex organs increases in size and matures in function. Secondary: do not directly affect reproduction but signify gender. All changes of puberty depend on adequate nourishment. Body image: person"s idea of how his or her body looks.
