DGS 3223 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Chromosome, Triple X Syndrome, Karyotype
Document Summary
Order of cell lines in mosaicism & chimerism: constitutional cell lines are arranged according to their size. The largest cell line is listed first and the smallest is listed last: the normal diploid cell line is always listed last, if present, regardless of the number of cells present. The number of cells of each cell line is indicated in square brackets. Cancer tissue can have normal karyotyped cells and weirdly karyotyped cells. Largest cell line to smallest cell line; with constitutional diploid at the end. Square brackets w/ absolute number of cells seen in the sample. We always talk in terms of absolute numbers. 3 in 4 risk can sound very different from 75% chance. 12 of 20 cells showed this, 2 showed this, 6 showed this, etc. (in above sample: if 2 abnormal cell lines have the same number of cells. In constitutional studies, numbers of cells are only given if more than one cell line is present.
