Development is just a new word for what marxist called imperialism and what we can loosely refer to as colonialism - a more familiar and less loaded word. Both colonialism and development share the same goal. We must find new lands from which we can easily obtain raw materials and at the same time exploit the cheap slave labor that is available from the natives of the colonies. The colonies would also provide a dumping ground for the surplus goods produced in our factories. - infamous english businessman and colonialist. The global gap requires more than compassion, it requires action . People claim poverty is functional to the country- basically people don"t want to do anything about it because the people that have power to make a difference is the rich. At the same time, the rich are limited to what they can do. Ensures the wealth of affordable goods for western consumers.
