Writing is linked with the idea of history. Herodotus coined history ( historia ) to describe inquiry into the past. He focused on the accounts of those during the time of war between. Talked about it out loud in public gathering (oral history) Ancient writing can only be passed along from generations to generations if it is copied. Works that are normally copied are those that talk about major events such a political and military events that involves major powers or books about religious traditions, or were written by important people. Written accounts by ordinary people were often not kept due to its lack of importance. Ancient writing can also be maintained if written on stones, shells, bone and any other material that makes the writing remain permanent. Writings are a scholar"s most important original source. Can be hard to reconstruct writing that are found. City folks even in ancient times saw themselves as more advanced than rural folks.
