Chapter 19: fairy lands & the tripod of power. Emperor sends xu shi with several thousand boys and girls to find the 3 fairy islands of. Penglai, fazhang, and yingzhou to see where the immortals live. Emperor goes to pengcheng, hoping to recover the bronze tripod (vessel of political authority) of zhou in river si sends thousands of divers, none can find it. Sails down yangtze to temple of mount xiang storm makes it difficult for ship to cross xiang river: makes 3,000 convicts cut down all the trees on mount xian returns from. Chapter 20: year 29/4 (218 bc): the inscriptions at mount zhifu. Whilst traveling to yangwu, emperor is threatened by an assassin assassin flees, but cannot be found. On mount zhifu, emperor inscribes: how he reached mount zhifu and how great and wonderful he is, how his subjects praise and adore him.
