In order to fund military, emperor wu faked money and did corrupted things, also raised taxes. Confucian scholars arguing why the money measures taken by emperor wu were bad. Monopolies and taxes make people abandon agriculture and turn toward trade and industry. Minister argues that these things are needed to defend the borders and protect people from barbarians. Scholars argue that if the kingdom were truly good, there would not be a need for soldiers. Scholars argue that these measures were meant to be temporary, and that it is wrong for them to be kept permanent.
