Mmw 12 article reading history of the jews. Governor of judaea, pilate, moved winter camp to jerusalem. Wanted to bring in images of the emperor on the front of the standards, but the jewish people said this was against their law. Pilate first to bring images into jerusalem and set them up. Protested for days demanding the removal of the images. Did not want to remove the images as it would be an insult to caesar. When they protested again threatened to have them killed, but the jewish people surrendered themselves, saying that they would rather die than violate the law. Pilate impressed by the jewish people and ordered the images be sent back. Aqueduct built in jerusalem using the funds of the temple. The uprising ended bloody, with many killed. Jesus named leader of the jewish people and pilate had him crucified. Matthew did not like the pharisees and this bias is evident in his gospel.
