MMW 12 Chapter Notes - Chapter Reading: Artha, Age Disparity In Sexual Relationships, Prostitution
Document Summary
On the acquisition of dharma, artha, and kama. A man should be a religious student until he finishes his education. Don"t eat meat and focus on the spiritual world. Dharma should be learned from the shruti (holy writ) and people familiar with it. Artha is the acquisition of material things (including friends, culture, and art) and protecting the things you acquire. Kama is the enjoyment of things with the senses. To be learned from the kama sutra and from other people. Even though kama can be seen everywhere, it needs instruction to be perfected. Learning and doing things that don"t give you immediate gratification is worthwhile because often these things will help you and make your life more full/comfortable. Looking to acquire things isn"t a bad thing because no action leads to no happiness or gain. Better to keep looking than to sit complacent. Following kama will not lead you to waste as long as you do it in moderation.
