Factory life in britain was a nightmare. There were people in the countryside who would go around burning down factories. Idyllic manufacturing town where workers had nice little houses, regular trash collection, and a rating system for their work in the form of the colors on a little cube over their heads. It was visited by many important leaders looking for a better solution to traditional industrialism. No children under the age of 11 were employed in the factories, and children got shorter working days. No one was punished unless they were extremely drunk or something to that nature. People could see their work history records if they disagreed with their performance rating and take up grievances with their managers. Children were in school, receiving an education and playing in a controlled environment. He grew up poor in wales and, through his own tenacity and pure luck, rose to the top.
